A new school year begins.
The students take a fieldtrip to a controversial convention where the first small-scale models of Sentinels are introduced to solve the growing mutant problem.
The Brotherhood provokes a riot by stabbing a man during his speech. The Sentinel models activate and turn on all mutants in the crowd.
The frightened students are rescued by Rogue and Beast in the X-jet. Back at the Institute the children discover the lower levels and learn the shocking true nature of the X-men. For some this revelation, and the days violence, prove too much to handle. That evening a group of students runaway together into the night, their futures unknown.
The Brotherhood returns home to find several new faces have joined their cause. Pyro discovers Magnetto's mangled helmet on the doorstep, hinting dire news of their missing leader.
The morning will welcome more new Students and Teachers to the first day of class.
With the lower halls no longer a secret, who will be the latest addition to the X-men team?
What new treachery does the Brotherhood have planned?
And what will become of the roaming band of mutant runaways?
