[BTSS] A Unit Whose Time Has Come

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Those of us who have been at this for a while remember when Priests were commonplace in Sisters of Battle armies. That was before Codex:Witch Hunters nerfed them into near-uselessness.

Their Righteous Fury rule is neat, but there are really no units in the codex that justify the ridiculous points-cost of a priest.

Or are there?

One of the units that a Priest may attach to is Inducted Imperial Guard Infantry squad. Now this was a joke with the prior Codex:Imperial Guard-based Infantry squad, but the new one has a twist: combined Infantry squads.

That's right, those poor neglected Priests can now take to the field leading twenty, thirty, forty, or even fifty Imperial Guardsmen! The Priest, eviscerator in hand, can stand together with about as many power weapon-wielding Sergeants and Commissars as you want, providing high-strength attacks along with the coveted re-rolls to maximize the units effectiveness.

To make this even better, one of the Inducted Infantry platoons can include Al'Rahem. Now your massive, Priest-led infantry blob can outflank!

This really is a sweet little bonus in the declining years of Codex:Witch Hunters. A rehabilitation of a once-popular unit.
