It's all about perspective, isn't?
Surely, we've all run into speed bumps, faced obstacles or been presented with challenges on varying levels and to different degrees. But, as a friend once told me, "It's not about how many times you fall down; it's whether or not you keep getting back up."
And THAT is a personal choice.
Obviously, Nick (the gentleman in the video), has been presented with a situation that many people would choose to let incapacitate them for their entire life. And, there would be plenty of "well-meaning" friends, family members, and folks within the general populous who'd let them feel sorry for themselves, who'd be "understanding" of what they consider hardships. We see it everyday, as it seems that this nation, at the highest levels, thrives on labeling as many people as it can as a "victim" of some sort and one incapable of and not responsible for making it through life without the help of some government agency or assistance program.
But not Nick. He has a different perspective, a different attitude, a completely different take on life. For me, there's a HUGE message here:
Everything starts with a thought, a decision. And, no matter where we are or what challenge we think we're facing, we (individually) get to choose whether or not we're going to let it knock us down and keep us down, or look for, find and focus whatever opportunity is waiting on the other side. With this in mind, there's in a quote I've replayed in my head, over and over, for almost two-decades, and it goes like this:
"Successful people (regardless of anything) do what unsuccessful aren't willing to do."
