Title of Role Playing Game: The Wheel of Time - Tangled Threads
Age limit, if any: 13 and above (any posts that rank higher than a PG-13
rating are clearly marked as such)
Our game began where Crossroads of Twilight ended. The story is not
following the books, but there are some things that are similar. Tangled is
a small group, but has been going for quite some time now and I would like
to keep it going. As the owner, I try to guide the overall story, but your
character is your character and you are allowed to play him/her as such (as
long as you don't go killing off other characters without checking with
their owners first!). That said, we do tend to work as a team - in other
words, your input is valued, so if you have ideas on how to better guide the
storyline overall, I welcome those ideas.
We're in need of several canon characters, as well as original characters
who can contribute to the story. If you take a character that will become
central to the plot, we ask that you be able to post at least once a week
for each character you have.
If you are interested in joining us, please email me with a writing sample
for the character you wish to play.
Characters we need badly: Perrin, Aviendha, Min, Verin, Siuan, Gareth
Bryne, Silviana, miscellaneous Asha'man, Aes Sedai, and Children of the
Light.
Characters we could use to get another plot moving again: Sharans. >:)
To give you some background...
The Plot:
The year is 1000 NE…
When the game began, we picked up where Crossroads of Twilight ended. The
Wheel weaved a bit of a different tale this time, though. Cadsuane
Melaidhrin, prompted by one of Min's visions, took Min and Nynaeve away from
the Pendaloan Estate, leaving Rand and Lan behind. During the trip, the
three women were attacked. Cadsuane was turned to the Shadow and Min
was taken hostage. Nynaeve escaped but was injured in the battle. Cadsuane
found her and they headed back to Rand after Cadsuane claimed Min had chosen
not to return. From there, the Pattern began to unravel.
Rand has since, with the help of Logain Ablar and a new thread in the Wheel,
taken control of the Black Tower, where he now resides. Unaware of
Cadsuane's new loyalties, he banished the old woman from his presence for
taking Min from him and refusing to tell him where she had gone. Min has
returned, however, but the world around our hero continues to grow more
tumultuous.
There are enemies and problems at every turn. The Seanchan, Darkfriends,
many of the Aes Sedai, and, of course, the Forsaken, are of the utmost
concern to Rand, but the most difficult enemies he may face are those who
remain unseen.
With all Rand has to face, he needs every friend he can get. Mat and Perrin
have returned to his side, at least for now, but others are facing
challenges of their own, like Egwene, who was captured by Elaida's followers
and stilled for treason. Though a new Amyrlin has been appointed – one who
feels little choice but to support Rand – Egwene still vies for the
position, convinced only she can deal with Rand and what the world will soon
face. Rand, for his part, is concerned about the fate of his friends but
realizes he has no choice but to focus on his own challenges and leave his
friends to their own devices, for it is he who controls the fate of the
world. It is he who must find a way to pull everyone together to fight
against the Shadow.
Prophecies abound, and although some are certain of their meanings, the
present and future are shifting so quickly there is no way to tell what will
come. The storm clouds are gathering quickly, indicating the Final Battle is
on the horizon, and as threads are being pulled in every direction,
gravitating toward the three strongest ta'veren in ages – Rand, Mat, and
Perrin – the world can only hope that the Dragon Reborn receives all the
help he needs to defeat the Dark One once and for all.
