Patrick -

Thanks for running the tourney and schlepping all the stuff. I hope it wasn't a totally thankless task this time out, but it sounds like you had fun anyway. I spent the weekend stuck indoors watching the kids make Halloween costumes, which was actually nice, but if they'd just stop doing these on holiday weekends, that would make life easier for a lot of us. :D

The weather, the timing of the weekend and the traditionally low turnout really hurt us. Between your $20 and the $50 I have left over from Historicon (That's what's left minus the costs of some Great War Terrain - $18 - and the trophies - $76), we have a war chest of $70 and four potentially re-usable plaques!! :)

But you're right. We need to address what we're presenting and what value people will get out of our events. I think the addition of Great War to Cold Wars is great, because it allows people to prepare a new, small army that they can afford to collect and paint in time for the event. That's good thinking, Ralph!

We probably ought to create an event for Historicon as well. We can put several choices to a vote here, using the poll feature. If I knew within the next couple of months that we planned to do Chevauche as the theme of Singles, or Romans and Barbarians, or a particular battle or era, I'd have time to get an army together, or line up a friend's army to bring if I didn't want to paint one.

I think the more ideas we have to work with the better, as that's more folks invested in the outcome and the experience. Then it gets to be a lot more fun to plan these and participate in them, I think.

I just realized I may not be able to make Cold Wars 2012. We will need to play that by ear. I can drop these with someone local that is going up if necessary.
