In 1721, Navassa Island was an uninhabited fly-speck in the Caribbean and known only as a navigational hazard. It had been such since it was first discovered by Christopher Colombus in 1580. It had nothing going for it… but at the same time, everything going for it. It was the perfect place for a "new begining"… a place where a selected group of people, chosen by powers that they didn't understand and didn't realize were in play, could literally return to the Garden of Eden before the `fall'... where the misfits, the unwanted and unloved could build a new society based on a return to nature and the natural instincts of mankind before materialism, `false modesty' and greed overcame the human nature that was first instilled in all of mankind. It is a tropical paradise… where the only `taboo' is against harming one's fellow man. It is a magical place in more ways than simply its lush setting and tropical grandeur. It will become… in a few hundred years… a Mecca for those seeking cultural and sexual freedom… and a center of entertainment and relaxation known the world over. All who live there have a single thing in common. They have all been given… a second chance… some more so than others.
The find that they are from different times and places, different cultures and climates… some speak different languages. Yet, they must form the basis of a totally new civilization that is based on how things `should have been' and not how they turned out. Some come from among the living and seek an escape from the living Hell that can await those of the 18th century. Some have literally been brought back from the dead…. to be given a chance to either redeem themselves for some foul but not deliberate act or to find something within themselves that they think that they lack.
First they have to build their first settlement, adjust to each other and explore a land that has literally gone unseen since the dawn of man's history. They're in for a few surprises as they discover that things aren't `exactly' the way they were taught in either their numerous and various religions or in accepted science.
PARADISE GAINED is a totally unique concept in ADULT ORIENTED RPGs. The extensive file and photo sections make The Autonomous Communal Democratic Republic of Latch Cay a living, breathing place. Ir is a place in which any player may enter at any time and assume any character (within the time and setting of the game) that thy wish. It is a perfect medium for both the experienced and novice gamer.
