Jon hesitated a moment or two as he contemplated the maneuver he was about to have his helmsman initiate; the Picard maneuver. It was useful but given that he was trying to place the ship between three pirate vessels, this would be very dangerous. It was however, neccessary. Otherwise they would not be able to get close enough to rescue the hostages the pirates had on the planet.
"Commander McCarthur", he said to his XO who was currently at the tactical station. "When we come out of warp, raise shields and fire at will, target weapons and communications arrays."
"Aye, Captain", the Commander replied.
"Lieutenant tKhev", he said to the Romulan exchange officer at the helm. "On my command, come to course 213 mark 21. I want a micro burst at warp speed for point oh six seconds."
"Aye,rekkhai", she replied, her fingers moving over the instrument panel.
Jon paused briefly and then said, "Execute!"

As the crew of the U.S.S. Sedgemoor departs on it's maiden voyage, a diplomatic cake walk. A distress call from the U.S.S. Randolph and the colony world bring the cake walk to an end. Pirates decide to make the voyage just a little more interesting.
