Set midway through the Supernatural's Season Two premiere episode "In My
Time Of Dying", The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions swings
into Alternate Universe territory with a new twist on what could have
been, had the Yellow Eyed Demon been a little more devious and John
Winchester just a bit more desperate.
Determined to find a way to save the life of his oldest son, Dean,
following a grim accident, John Winchester summons the YED in the boiler
room of a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, prepared to hand over
the Colt in exchange for Dean's life. However, like most Demons, Yellow
Eyes isn't one to make a deal so cut and dried. He vows that he can -
and will - bring John's son back from Death's door, but first the
Winchester Patriarch must 'sweeten the pot'.
With a million possibilities, ranging from his life to the life of his
youngest son, John - stoic in his demeanor - asks what YED's terms
are...and is horrified to find it goes against everything he spent the
last twenty two years fighting for.
To spare Dean's life, John Winchester must assist YED in achieving his
next goal: Unlocking the Devil's Gate in Wyoming, thereby releasing an
army of Demon soldiers as well as the trapped Lilith, who was needed to
complete the final phase of a most sinister plan. With a Reaper close to
luring Dean to his demise, John agrees, slipping out of the hospital
without a word to anyone - not even his youngest son, Sam.
With the Devil's Gate now open, a pall of darkness has fallen on our
times. Demons en masse are roaming the Earth. Lilith is furtively
seeking the 66 Seals to open them and release Lucifer. The Four Horsemen
of the Apocalypse have been spotted and one by one cities are beginning
to crumble, with the once dead walking amongst the shadows.
And in Heaven's response, seven Angels were heard blowing seven trumpets
and the Apocalypse was upon us.
However, just a few states away in Washington, a group of rogue
government scientists upset that their project is being shut down are
quickly learning that you can't toy with nature without having it come
back to bite you -hard.
As an extention of the Military, these scientists were bestowed with one
goal - to create the ultimate solider to fight the war on terror.
Splicing human and animal DNA together, they have created a variety of
hybrid species - humans with a pronounced, and often times
uncontrollable animal side.
With the news coming in that their services would no longer be needed,
the scientists decided to take their work with them, which unfortunately
backfired. With several of them dying in the process, they've
accidentally unleashed a myriad of new species on an already plagued
world. Not only that, several key components of the lab's equipment were
destroyed in the ensuing struggle, causing deadly chemicals to escape
and seep into our atmosphere. The effects of which are currently
unknown. The government, unaware of what's been begun in Wyoming are
struggling to re-gain control of a volatile situation.
Meanwhile, an old species of vampires has been spotted near New York
City, something unlike many hunters have seen before. Is this just the
first of a rise in powerful species?
The apocalypse is nigh...And the humans have no hope in Hell of
survival.
God help us all.
