X Men: Brand New Day
It had been the end.
The end of everything. The X-Men had hoped to make a new home and a new life for
themselves, but prejudice and hatred had found their way to their door step.
They fought against it and against those who would see them gone, wiped from the
face of the Earth. Then the unthinkable happened. War came to their doorstep.
Not just war, but Genocide.
The future came to greet them and it was not pretty. Nimrods, futuristic robotic
sentinels, came for them and they had a single programming directive: Kill all
mutants. The city of San Francisco was trapped along with the island of Utopia.
The Nimrods came and they laid siege not only to the island of Utopia, but to
the city as well. Destruction and devastation was left in the wake of the
marching Nimrods. Wherever they found mutants, they left death.
The mutants, the X-Men, fought hard and made valiant efforts in the ongoing
battle. At one point it seemed like it would not be enough. Many stood tall and
made their mark, rising to the occasion in ways they never thought they could.
Boys became men. Girls became women, and children became X Men. Their backs were
against the wall, and they fought back with a tenacity never before seen.
Still, they took their hits. No one came out of it unscathed. There were losses.
Some were maimed. Others fell giving their life not only for the cause, but also
for the people they spent their lives standing beside and fighting with and for.
Eventually the battle was over, and the war was over. The X-Men stood upon the
field of battle victorious. But at what cost?
In the future X-Force fought the good fight and brought the war to their
enemies. It was a one in a million chance. A suicide mission, and no one there
expected to come home. They knew they were lambs being led to the slaughter, but
they also knew their sacrifice and their success or failure was the price to pay
to save the rest of their kind, and maybe even the whole world. They went on
this mission
not has heroes, not as soldiers, but as friends and family doing what needed to
be done to keep safe those they loved and cared about.
In the end they succeeded. But to what end? They were trapped, stuck out of
time. Once again it would take a miracle, and once again someone stood up to the
task. One did what needed to be done and sacrificed himself for the preservation
of his kind. Through Cable's noble efforts, the others were able to go home.
Through his last act he gave everyone Hope.
Now is a time to mourn and grieve. Now is a time to rebuild. Now is a time of
Hope. It is a brand new day for the X-Men, and there are five new points of
light on Cerebro that indicate the future of mutant kind will be bright,
indeed...
X-Men: Brand New Day.
We are only accepting applications for canon characters from the Marvel Universe. If you wish to play someone who has died in the 616-verse (before "Second Coming", that is), please contact the Mods. It may be able to be arranged, but then again, perhaps no. The Mods will not make a habit of resurrecting fallen characters, but sometimes exceptions can and will be made, so long as we can work it feasibly into the story.
