Game Description:
Peace is perhaps even more fragile than beginnings.
A thousand years have passed since the time of the Blood Oath when the
dragon Bid'daum and his rider changed the course of history for all
those on Alagaësia;; the elves, humans and dragons live in a harmony
with one another though it seems that the world itself is not as content
to rest easy.
Urgals and other dark things thrive in the wild places of the world
bringing their chaos and mayhem upon all who would cross their paths.
Cruel and arrogant they pose little threat while they remain separate
and subject to internal conflicts but they are ever present and always
watching for their chance to strike into the heart of Alagaësia.
However, while they remain a pressing problem it is mostly politics and
the constant need for dragons, humans, elves and even dwarves to argue
with one another even when it is clear enough that a certain course is
the right one.
At present the Council of Dragon Riders is learning how best to manage
its numbers, working on training their newest members and also in
devleoping their relationships with the rest of the world. While they
stand willing to act in judgement and help all the races keep to their
peaces, no one is happy with the idea of being a hammer. It makes them
aware of the need to walk a fine line between the power they possess and
also the way to use it.
It is harder still in the matter of the dwarf nation, while respected
they are not part of the Blood Oath and makes for a certain bitterness
in their dealings with the other races, not least in the currect affairs
of mining rights and the recent changes in power for the human capital.
The human king is dead and there is no clear line of succession. Elf,
dwarf and Dragon Rider stand watching to see what unfolds, aware that
things are changing and that blood may yet be spilled before the crown
is placed on anyones head.
The succession of Kings is never easy, least of all when the man in
question had not named an heir or done the sensible thing and married
his daughter to someone suitable. However, there are plenty of men now
willing to take the throne for themselves.
With or without the princess' assistance or hand.
At the same time the Dwarves are uneasy with continued human
encroachment into the lands in search of the wealth of the mountains not
to mention the sightings of strange creatures in the night. All is not
well in the Beorn Mountains.
Meanwhile the Elves spend much of their time either in reflection and
study or helping the Riders with their training. However, this is
growing more and more tense as many dislike the introduction of humans
into the 'Blood Oath' and like even less the growing dissent in the
kingdom so close to their own borders.
Finally, the riders themselves are still trying to adjust to their own
position in the world. While established for a thousand years, they are
still learning what it is to be a Rider in Alagaësia and the best way
to manage it.
With the troubles in the humans kingdom now might be the time to see if
a direct approach would make the most sense or if they should consider
holding themselves aloof until the matter is decided and then acting to
enforce that choice.
