Call me "crazy," but something tells me the Fed knows what the "actual" number is, regardless of what's being reported. The unemployment rate appears only to be a justification for QE, one that most people (i.e., "the general public"... sigh) will buy into, or is "understandable". After all, who doesn't get that jobs are an issue? So, in my opinion, using unemployment numbers is a public relations tactic to get people rallying around the cause ;- )
