Hoplites and phalangites adopted the Thracian helmet, and used it for centuries... apparently it is a superior design... plus it has the popular Phrygian cap phallus dinger on top, everybody likes to get some good tyche in combat... even  more reason why Thracians would stick to their own gear and melt down the lousy Montefortinos...
