[Following the Battle at Worthington Labs: Alcatraz Island]

The X-men buried their dead and mourned the loss of their
mentor and leader Charles Xavier. The Brotherhood too had suffered
losses; Magneto was now human; Callisto, Arclight, Quill, Psylocke, and
Spike.

The School for the Gifted continued on, Logan became
the teacher he always avoided being; while Ororo Munroe became
the headmaster. Robert Drake became a teacher, having graduated
on the battlefield. His graduation was accompanied by Katherine
Pryde, Peter Rasputin, and Warren Worthington (the third).
These former students became the core of the Faculty for the
next generation of students.

Meanwhile the Brotherhood fell apart; without the
leadership of Magneto, other mutants vied for control of the
network of information Eric Lehnsherr had built. John Allerdyce
(Pyro) was too reckless and nearly got several of the remaining
members killed with his "plans" and his outbursts. Were it not
for Victor Creed (Sabertooth), returning from his sojourn the
remains of Lehnsherr's toil would have probably succumbed to
the ministrations of Xavier's Principles.

And then Deus Ex Machina, the "Cure" did not last.
Within the year almost all that had opted for the cure had
their powers return. Their hopes and dreams of living a normal
life, crushed.

Ororo and Logan became a shining example of love as
she helped to mend his heart, and he hers, for the loss of a
father figure and friends.

But tragedy followed upon the wings of this miracle.
Doctor [Name Redacted] began to test new processes of altering
mutants, one of his subjects, Flint Marko (aka The Sandman), however
was too unstable for him to control.

Sandman rose to a new level of power, the X-Men were called again.
The battle started in South Carolina, however it ended in West
Chester, New York. And by the time it got there several had
already fallen. This threat was so great that The Brotherhood stood
side by side and bled drop for drop with the X-Men. Magneto
resurfaced for the first time from the veil of obscurity. It
was through a concerted effort that they were able to defeat
The Sandman. Magneto pulled at the iron in his body, condensing
it and ripping it out. Banshee used sound to vibrate
him, disrupting his cohesion. Storm rained down
lightning like the
vengeful goddess she was.

What was left was broken glass and a sandpit where the
Xavier School for Gifted Young People had once stood. The dead
still impaled on spikes of glass from the ground The Sandman
had used. Logan could be seen leaving with a child in his arms.
The Covenant was broken, and morale would fall to an all time low.

But Abigail would not be thwarted, like her father
Charles Xavier; she would not go gently into the night.
She gathered the remainders of the students and faculty
and moved them all, out to Southern California to rebuild.
And so they open now their doors and their arms to those
who will need guidance, trying to be the shining light the
Xavier dreamed they would be.

The Brotherhood suffered the loss of Magneto once
again, only this time he died speared on a glass spike, trying
to protect Storm. He was unfortunately unsuccessful. Facing
this loss, they scattered to the winds, each trying to make
their own way.

But a name as strong as The Brotherhood of Mutants
cannot ever truly die, like a power beacon it draws those
mutants who seem themselves as the new masters of this
world, they will not be forgotten for long.

----------

The mutant cure did not last. Within the year almost all that had opted for the cure had their powers return. Their hopes and dreams of living a normal life, crushed. Shortly afterwards, the X-Men were needed to face another threat that called himself SandMan, but not just to them but to the whole race of mankind.

They managed to destroy it, but at a price. Many of the X-Men died in the battle, leaving the younger generation to carry on. Now the younger generations has grown up and have kids themselves. They are the new generation of X-Men. They are led and taught by their parents and the once formers to carry on and protect their world regardless of what others think of them.

The original school was destroyed in the battle with SandMan, so what was left of the original X-Men packed up and moved to Southern California to rebuild. What they don't know is something is lurking under the sands of the Death Valley, something hell bent on avenging her father, and she won't be alone….
