Just at the start of the year 2012, a huge and obviously old spaceship of alien origin, popped right into the inner system of old Sol. Noticed only by a few to begin with. But the facts and rumors of its existence quickly spread.
That event on its own, would have had enough of a wide-spread effect on the people on Earth. As soon became very obvious though, the ship wasn't done with just its sudden appearance act.
Probes, landing craft or something else. Were sent through the solar system, towards all the planets. Of those landing on Earth, many were destroyed on their descent through the atmosphere, or in violent encounters with the ground.
Others, of-course, shot into pieces by one means or another.
Those surviving however...
They released a wide variety of never seen before lifeforms. As it turned out-- of undoubtely alien or even stranger origin. Before these probes from the alien ship went on to snatch up samples of Earth's flora and fauna.

Near six months later. The Earth and humankind is rather in turmoil. Some of those new arrivals stirring up things or messing up local eco-systems. And the smart ones...they range everywhere from working alongside humans for one reason or another. Others again, may have not so good plans on their agenda.
Join in. Be a human like any other, trying to make sense of what the world has become and living your life. Or an offworlder trying to adjust to this new, and to you, strange world you've been thrown into.
