Good evening.
Yes familiarity with your trading platform and charts is a must! I have been using metatrader for 4 years as my trading charts but I use fxsol as my broker. I have tried fxcm but then again it is familiarity with your charts and broker. Different brokers offers different options with the metatrader platform. Some offer Gold, $ index, amongst other indices along with some stocks with currencies. So check around and make sure you know what you want. I do not trade off my charts I keep these separate. If my charts hang then I can not move in and out. If the charting gets slow it would be harder to change brokers everytime I have charting issues. So I will always keep broker and charting platform separate. Hope this helps.

I would like to know if anyone has experience with (or thoughts about) FXCM.
