[RPG_Player_Sanctuary] PBEM: Seeds of Change

Name: Seed of Change
System: Seeds of Change will be a fifth edition Hero System PBEM.
Setting: the modern world of January 2008
Setting Knowledge required: N/A
System Knowledge required: Preferred but not required
Type of Game: Iron Age Supers: Action, potential politics, adult

Player Characters will be among the first superpowered beings to emerge
in the wake of a celestial incident 20 years previous. The world is our
own with the same history up until game start in November 2004. From
that point on, the game is open to diverge in whatever ways the players
and plotline create.

The game will be comic book in tone though not "four color" Characters
can be fairly flawed beings, real people with all their frailties and
strengths working to make a better world or just a better place for
themselves. The tone will be similar comic series such Supreme Power,
Stormwatch and the Authority. The PCs will be some of the most powerful
beings on the planet so their choices can shake the foundations of the
world.

Themes I hope to explore are the price of power, the influence of
celebrity and what does morality mean when social constraints are
eliminated. Character origins should relate to the Seeding in some
fashion, either directly or indirectly. This means characters that were
born with their powers can be no older than 20 years old. Other origins
will have to approved, but I am open to suggestions.

Rating: R to NC-17

Premise: 20 Years ago the world changed. A heretofore unknown comet with
an incredibly eccentric orbit entered our Solar System and the Earth
passed through it's vaporous tail. The resulting shower of debris and
shooting stars were seen for days all over the world, a rain of fire
like nothing seen before. It was known by many names: The Starfall, the
Rain of Fire but The Seeding stuck since it was like the Earth was being
showered with seeds of light, the heralds of a new era.

Across the world, people reacted; some celebrated, some prayed, some
huddled in fear. Some threw festivals and righteous parties, solemn
prayer vigils or pagan rites, others gathered with loved ones to watch,
talk or even make love under dazzling sky while other pondered the
spectacular display in introspective solitude. The spiritual saw it as
sign that higher powers were at work, the scientific considered the
implications and possible side effects. It was a once in a life time
event. Then, as suddenly as it came, the Seeding ended, the world held
it's breath for a few days then went back to normal.

20 years ago, the world changed. And no one noticed.

Strange, wondrous and possibly horrific things had come to our world
that night. The seeds were planted that would alter the world forever.
Now, at the dawn of the 21st century those seeds have taken root and
begun to bloom. Young men and women gifted with incredible powers are
rising to challenge the make up of the world and an awed humanity will
struggle to cope. You are one of them, one of the Seedlings, gifted with
powers beyond imagination, the power to change the world.
