Subject: [WABlist] Warhammer Ancient Battles Historicon Tournament
Helllo,
I regret the delay reporting the outcome of the Warhammer Ancient Battles Tournament at Historicon 2012. I departed the convention on work related travel, followed by a family vacation, and only now have dug out from underneath the snow of E-mails and other documents requiring my attention.
The tournaments were relatively successful. Despite the change in location and the notable absence of the usual players, there were 15 players for the doubles tournament and 10 players for the singles tournament. Unfortunately there was only one entry for the English Civil War, but this did give me the opportunity to actually play a game. Other than the Flames of War tournament, WAB had the largest participation.
In the Doubles Tournament the winners of the best sportsmen were Danny Bell and John Miller. Best Generals award went to Dave Mattson and Rich Mentch.
In the Singles Tournament the Best Sportsman was a newcomer Tommy Thomas followed by John Eich. The best painted armies were a tie between John Eichs and Tom Eichs. The best general went to Alex White.
I would like to thank all the participants who made this an easy tournament to run. In particular I'd like to thank Alex White who volunteered to help put on the tournament and rode into the breach when we had an odd number of players/teams. I'd also like to thank John Bianchi for providing all the materials to enable the tournament to go forward.
Phil Pournell
