[RPG_Player_Sanctuary] Mass Effect: Legacy...

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

The year is 2185. Almost two years after the Geth attack on the
Citadel, the galaxy has returned to normal - on the surface. But
appearances can be deceiving - the Terminus systems are in turmoil;
The quick expansion of human colonies has led to an increase of
anti-human sentiment. Opportunity afforded by a weakened galactic
presence of Citadel ships has allowed crime and terrorism to escalate,
and the strange activities of various associated organisations have
many wondering on the intentions of the terrorist group Cerberus. And
now, strange sensor readings around various human colonies in the
Terminus systems have colonists getting worried.

The Systems Alliance Corsair Jackson Hague has recently come to own a
ship of his own - and the Alliance are eager to put it into service.
Crewed by mercenaries and guns for hire, the Alliance now have a
mobile platform for clandestine interventions with plausible
deniability. And as the crew are unaware of their employer's true
identity, policing and protecting the more controversial side of the
Alliance just got a lot easier. But it's not easy keeping a secret
that big on a small ship, and while Jackson has done his best to build
a crew he can trust, they are still raw and untested, and the Galaxy
isn't going to wait for them to get ready.

A group of strangers with different motives are about to find out if
they can live, work, and survive together... or they'll die trying.

Mass Effect Legacy is a PBEM game set in the Mass Effect universe just
before Commander Shepard's return to life in ME2. Posing as a
freelancer, Hague is assembling a crew of mercenaries and misfits with
the promise of work - and money, while keeping his status as an
Alliance Operative a secret. He and his crew will be deployed on
clandestine missions - search and rescue, seek and destroy,
assassination, recon - anything the Alliance can't touch officially,
the crew of the Chimera will be tasked to take care of. Some of it
will be difficult - and some of it will be questionable.

While the game starts just as the first human colony has gone dark,
the crew of the Chimera - Hague's ship - will not be taking Shepherd's
place in history, but will follow their own path through an ever
changing and dangerous Galaxy, where the line between good and evil is
sometimes not as distinct as some would like...

This game is in need of some extra characters, and so we can get to
the action and start playing properly, the current members have
decided to jump us forward directly to the mission briefing; new
players will be able to join now and acknowledge their 'recruitment'
as a flashback or in references to the past, or however they wish (in
other words, they are already part of the crew, post recruitment).
There will be a lot of possibilities for character development, as
well as chances to undertake personal missions tied to a characters
backstory, and an emphasis on moral choices and their outcomes - just
like the original games.
