When a Weyr rises up against its ranking riders there is no room for shades of grey. Caught between two Weyrs, Arolos must pick a side - does it side with stern Fort who were known to brutalise their greens and blues or wild Ista who feel bronze and gold hides should not predetermine a dragon-pairs place in life?
Meanwhile, with a while to go before the next Eggs on the Sands, the Candidates are sent out in groups to explore the South. Will they learn to work together as groups before there are dragons involved, or will they pluck danger out of what should be a relatively safe trip?
Back at the Weyr, a stomach bug passes from person to person. It's an inconvenience rather than a danger, but it's still difficult to run a Weyr when a large fraction of the people are sick!
