Subject: [RPG_Player_Sanctuary] Mass Effect: Sci-FI RPG
Perhaps the third time is the charm :) I have tried recuriting for this Sci-FI PBEM twice now, but I have not received enough interest. However, I really believe if people who enjoy the genre give this a chance they will be pleasantly surprised. If you have any intrest at all, whether you are familiar with the story or not, I am willing to teach you the setting so please read below:
The pride of the Alliance Fleet, the Normandy is one of the most technologically advanced ships in the galaxy. Built for speed and covert operations your task starts out to be a simple one: join the crew of the Normandy and follow Commander Jale Shepard as he attempts to cement man's place in the galaxy through missions for the Alliance, an Earth based government that finds itself being squeeze out by the other major races who want to keep Earth, and Man, as secondary players in the universe. Your life as you know it takes a decidedly sinister turn as the human outpost on Eden Prime goes silent......
This is an RPG based on the Bioware series of games known as Mass Effect. Quick note: for those familiar with the games this will not follow the material exactly, but have my own twists. For those unfamiliar, but interested here are some of the basic:
Become one of six trained specialists:
Infiltrator - tech and combat specialists with the unique ability to cloak themselves from visual and technological detection. Infiltrators are deadly at any range, with a wide variety of weapons, equipment, and powers that can take down the enemy.
Vanguard - feared for their high risk, high reward combat style, closing in quickly on enemies and destroying them at close range with weapons and biotic abilities.
Sentinel - bringing both tech and biotic abilities to the battlefield. While they lack the focus of adepts and engineers, they are verstile and can handle any situation.
Adept - biotic specialists, capable of disabling and killing enemies with raw biotic power. While they lack advanced combat training, they are the best at defeating enemies without firing a shot.
Engineer - tech specialists. They are the only class able to deploy combat drones on the battlefield. They are the most effective class at blasting through enemy defenses and disabling opponents.
Soldier - pure combat specialists. No one is tougher or more effective at taking down enemies with gunfire. Soldiers have the most thorough weapons training and can use all special ammo types.
If I get enough interest I will go into further details about biotic powers, ammo and weapons types, races, etc. Create your own character and personality or if you are familiar with the game and setting you can play one of the canons. If you are interested, and want further details, drop me an e-mail. I am willing to help teach any and all 'newbies' the ropes of Mass Effect.Hope to see you around the galaxy!
