I participated in a world-wide Verdun campaign. The large batte(s) was broken down into smaller talbe sized actions. Each mini-battle contributed to the on-going campaign and over-all victory.

When I was running the WECW events I organized players into one of two teams. The idea was to focus on team play rather than individual games. So there are some interesting options for a convention beyond one:one games. In the WECW games I tired to add a little flavor and characters to the games also. While it didn't always work, I tried to encourage fun over competitiveness.
