Well, I'll keep mine brief, since there's a lot there, and some bitterness
mixed with pride, joy and other intense emotions lol.
I've been playing Tabletop and some old DOS formats (they were like chat,
but also like DOS lol, don't remember what they were called) over the
years. My first Chat-based RP was done in 2001 on a site called Talkcity.
Me and my brother signed on as characters from my Novel. I was the self-*
loving* Dhampir, and he was the Halfbreed Chaos Demon who pretty much
sought nothing but power (IC). It was an odd mixture of experiences...my
Bro was always more hotheaded than I, and people would ban us both just
about every time he'd get himself into trouble. Don't get me wrong, I got
in my share of spats online too, but they were rare.
Anyways, I have played on YahooGroups, InvisionFree, Delphiforums,
Talkcity, RPGWorlds, Nexxushost, UnderNet, SorceryNet, Zetaboards,
Yuku/EZBoards, you name it....I've done it. I've played anime genres,
SciFi, Fantasy, Cyberpunk, everything except Romance....I just never had
much of an affinity for it. I can manage it in the offline realm, just not
so good at writing about it.
But yes...this is the short, minimalized version of my own history. I
remember how amazing it was when I first discovered Chat-based RP, and I
love it to this day (even though they don't tend to be the best run).
I love a live, interactive game. While I won't turn my nose up at a
PBEM/Forum game, there's something to be said about being able to interact
in real-time, y'know?
But aye.
