I know people who won some tournaments with that codex. They were good players and long time Blood Angel players as well. I'm not saying they won a major tourney with them or anything but they are credible threats no matter who they against locally. Perhaps its awful compared to how some 5th edition codexes work but some peopel say that orks and space marines are awful in 5th edition too. I guess its all relative to your experience. My experiences about that WD codex say it was decent enough to win with even if it wasn't truly awesome.
My gut tells me this codex wil be lackluster, but decent as well. Its certainly doesn't have the feel of the old codex though. The unit names are the same but these don't look as good for the most part as they did before. For an entirely short ranged firepower army its my belief they cut donw on the survivability. We really will have to depend on Battle Conclaves and Repentia to survive I think. Dominions definitely got better.
I have some fear sthough about this new codex as I'm thinking that special weapons will be 1 or 2 per 5 even with the different units. That is Ward's thing in all of his marine codexes to date. Hopefully Immolators will only cost 40 points. If they are priced like Space Marine Razorbacks with a twin-linked heavy flamer then we've only lost stuff on them. You know Blood Angels only pay 55 points for a fast Razorback with a twin-linked heavy flamer and the Space Marines pay 65 points for a non fast one. I was really hoping that we would get a Land Raider in this codex so I could field that Battle Conclave in one and drive 12" deposit and then bring on the heretic killing. <Sigh> At least so I have soemthign to do with my LR with Inquisitorial doors on it.

It just wasn't very imaginative or terribly fun after the first few times to play. There was really only 1 build to work with. I played with it and against it and I won more often than I did with my Sisters. Sisters were my first army, but it took me some time to learn how to play them right. Like a year of a lot of losing.

> Realisticaly this new Sisters' codex isn't as bad as some say in hth. Certain units perform (at least in a vacuum) well in hth. I'm not terribly revved up about it though. From the current perspective there seems to few builds to it. Penitent Engines still look like trash rules wise. Repentia will still have trouble in less numbers than 20 against most dedicated CC units. They certainly need a Preacher to be effective which might not last long since he is a crappy 3 toughness 1 wound models with a 4++ save. The otehr units I will wait to pass judgement until I see the other half.
