I have had fun with the Vikings, but I think that they aren't as hard as
some of their opponents (like the Anglo-Saxons. I think that heavy units
tend to be a better bet than light ones, so taking a lot of Hirdmen seems
to work well. I have also thought that berserkers have been a bit cheesy
in the past, but I like the WAB 2 rules for them better, and they can even
the score against units that are better equipped. I am trying to field two
berserkers in each unit, which allows for some nice modelling choices as
well.

I also think that ranged fighters can be very important, especially against
enemies who have both moving shieldwall _and_ javelins. Anything to make
them less beefy when you finally have to charge them and take that first
round without the second rank of thrusting spears.
